Today’s bonus tracks
Oh, Tanya, thank you for writing this piece on the absurdity in how we cover prenatal care and birth in this country. It would be funny if our collective stupidity didn’t put our lives at risk, as well as our bank accounts. She shares some great suggestions on how employers can help, including making sure that their health plans cover midwife-assisted births (at home or birth centers) for low-risk pregnancies. “If altruism isn’t your bag, then consider that early prenatal care helps all payers in the health insurance game by lowering costs shared by the pool,” she writes.
