The case for a monthly social cadence

I recently had the opportunity to participate on a panel at the Luxury Interactive conference where I heard from dozens of retailers about their social media marketing efforts. One thing I heard repeatedly is that their social efforts are being run at two key intervals: daily monitor and respond; and two or three big brand efforts. In social media’s early phase, marketers primarily focused on increasing fans, then engaging those fans, using a mix of “content and conversation.” While content and conversation are great at building loyalty and mind share, social marketers are learning that they are not as great at increasing revenue and market share.
