Bringing you the best of SXSW

This Friday, a couple of us intrepid SmartBriefers are heading to the Lone Star State to bring you the best of South by Southwest (SXSW). The forecast calls for sunshine and temperatures in the low 70s, as well as nonstop big ideas and “holy cow!” discoveries, a taco-only diet and very little sleep.  Wish us luck, y’all.

SXSW, as many of you know, is a weeklong interactive, film and music festival that takes over one of the coolest cities on Earth, Austin, Texas.  Our goal is to attend, blog, tweet and video the most interesting stuff going on during the Interactive part of the festival — with special attention on what matters to SmartBrief on Social Media readers (but you’ll also notice a number of generally fascinating sessions we just plain couldn’t resist.)

Our preliminary agenda (outlined below) is absurdly ambitious, but SmartBrief Editor Rebecca Pollack and I would love your input!  Any must-attends on this list?  Have we missed anything from the full agenda you’d like us to cover? Are you heading down and looking for an opportunity to guest post? Comment below and we’ll work to get you, our readers, the most out of the mayhem that is SXSW.

That IS ambitious. You're going to be Interactive'd out by Tuesday night! :)

I was thrilled to see a panel we've worked so hard on make it onto your list so consider this a personal invite to join us on Monday at 11am for:

Web Series 2.0: Big Campaigns on Digital Dollars

We're quite excited about the panel and have packed it with people with strong opinions, that's for sure. Feel free to introduce yourselves (if you or Rebecca make it) to Chris Hanada, Co-Founder of Retrofit Films. He'd love to meet you. I'll let him know that you might be in attendance.

Chris Brogan would seem to be a must especially since you just had a poll about social media and web 2.0. Brogan is the man when it comes to this.

Outstanding – we'd love to have you!

Our blog posts are ~300 words and, as you know, our audience is marketers looking to maximize social media to benefit their companies/organizations. Feel free to email me directly at mcolaizzi@smartbrief.com.

Anyone else going to be at SXSW and itching to guest blog for us?

  • Posted by MerrittColaizzi on March 11th, 2010 at 2:23 pm

You and me both, Chris. You and me both.

  • Posted by MerrittColaizzi on March 11th, 2010 at 2:24 pm

Excellent – we'll come up and say hi.

  • Posted by MerrittColaizzi on March 11th, 2010 at 2:36 pm

I agree wholeheartedly. The Saturday 12:30 time slot was one of the richest — there were actually 5 sessions on our original list, including Brogan's. (Yes, the list above is the SHORT version of our wish list. We ended up culling the longer list by looking for variety and depth in some areas where SmartBrief readers have expressed interest in the past, e.g. social media for non-profits and the emergence of apps). That said, we'll put "I Don't Trust You One Stinking Bit" back in the mix and see where we land. Thanks for the input, Steve.

    Hi Merritt and Rebecca,

I've been asked to participate in a Core Conversation on Saturday March 13th at 12:30 PM – which I realize is your busiest time slot. Measuring Blogger Credibility: FTC Regulation vs. Crowdsourced Solutions http://my.sxsw.com/events/event/762 – just an fyi.

Your list above is super helpful. See you there!
