Today’s bonus tracks: What social search means for SEO

Here’s a scary thought: The traditional Web is in decline. Traffic to a range of major corporate sites has been sliding lately, Nikos Anagnostou notes, even though the number of people online is increasing. What does that mean? Well, for starters, it means that people are talking to each other about news, trends and ideas instead of turning to centralized sources of information. “Search won’t go away anytime soon, especially with the social element in it. But what would be the need for SEO? And what would be the need for adword advertising if the important factor in search results turned out to be your peers?” Good question.
