Social media might have great marketing potential — but from an HR perspective, these networks can be bears as much as blessings. At minimum, companies now have to spend time paying attention to trends in social media so that they can make sure their company policies reflect the way technology is being used, while still minimizing the company’s exposure to risk. Philip M. Berkowitz explores some of the pitfalls companies face, along with the components of a comprehensive social-media policy.
