What do you read to keep up with your industry news? To generate new ideas? To find new leads? Blogs are fantastic resources, but trade magazines are still some of the best places to go for this stuff. I recently shared a few thoughts on it on my blog and thought I’d repost them here. Feel free to share your favorite trade publications and sources for ideas in the comments.
What to read:
- The essentials. Inc. and Fast Company are required reading for smart marketers and entrepreneurs.
- Your industry’s trade magazines. Club and Resort Business Magazine, Butane-Propane News, Special Events Magazine — whatever you do, there’s a trade pub for you.
- Your clients’ industry trade magazines. By reading trade magazines relevant to your clients, you’ll learn what they talk about, the jargon they use, as well as a look at how other companies sell within the industry (advertisements, guest articles, etc).

And of course, there's also SmartBrief on Entrepreneurs, a sister pub for SmartBrief on Social Media.
I don’t know If I said it already but …Cool site, love the info. I do a lot of research online on a daily basis and for the most part, people lack substance but, I just wanted to make a quick comment to say I’m glad I found your blog. Thanks,
A definite great read….
