Would you believe that over 40% of tweets are “pointless babble”? According to a new Pearl Analytics study, the breakdown works like this: 3.75% of tweets are spam, 3.6% are news, 5.85% are self-promotional, and a whopping 37.55% are “conversational.” Just 8.7% are worth passing on. And the remaining 40.55%? You guessed it: meaningless musings on daily life. But then again, some of the most popular folks on Twitter– Shaq, we’re looking at you– are prolific babblers. So maybe a little small talk isn’t such a bad thing. No matter what kind of content you’re interested in, check out SmartBrief on Social Media for the latest news and social media trends.
