In my last post, I talked about how word of mouth and social media work for business-to-business companies just like they do for business-to-consumer companies. Remember: It’s about the people, not the product. Using a few simple techniques and without a big budget, you can get partners and potential clients telling all their colleagues about you.
What to do:
- Create research. Articles and research get quoted, copied, and forwarded to everyone in the office. Help yours get shared by removing any complicated download forms and making them ready to print or paste into a blog post.
- Host a social event. Whenever you travel, find industry talkers such as journalists and high-profile bloggers and invite them to dinner.
- Get social at trade shows. Go way beyond the lame booth by live-blogging the event, interviewing attendees and speakers, or making it easy for folks to follow you or link up with you on social media sites right from your booth.
