SmartPulse — our weekly reader poll in Smartbrief on Workforce — tracks feedback from leading managers and HR practitioners. We run the poll question each Wednesday in our e-newsletter.

Last week, we asked: The main topic of #connectHR is how HR departments can better use social media. How are you using social media in your HR/recruiting department?

  • We aren’t using social media, 78%
  • We are using it to learn and research HR/recruiting topics, 11%
  • We are actively using it in our HR/recruiting department to gain influence, 6%
  • We are using it to recruit candidates and not much else, 5%

Almost 4 in 5 people surveyed aren’t currently using social media in their HR or recruiting department? This spells opportunity for everyone else reaching out to people and taking advantage of the tools that social media offers. With some of the new statistics released in the last couple weeks about growth in the social media space, it will be interesting to see if HR practitioners and recruiters start flocking to the space.
