Couldn't agree more. Actually, CSR needs less to be ingrained into a company's mission and values, than to actually flow out of them - ie, CSR should not be about 'let's find some causes and attach ourselves to them', but 'let's look within ourselves to see what our responsibility is given the business we do, and then let's act on that' - which is a fundamental starting point for ensuring that CSR is integrated into the way that company does business and becomes a key driver of future growth and profitability. Which is the mission of my venture www.ifwerantheworld.com.

Sorry, must disagree with #5. Volunteer help is great. BUT it cannot ever take the place of cash grants in support of a worthy nonprofit's work. While valuable, in-kind support is not always better. Businesses need cash flow to operate. Nonprofits do, too, of course!

CSR encompasses a great deal more than just volunteering and making contributions. It's about getting social responsibility into every facet of a company's DNA - it has to be embedded in the thinking of all employees, and needs to be reflected in all of your operations.
