Trial sends are wonderful

Sarah Brown is SmartBrief’s launch manager. She works with SmartBrief’s newest partners to launch briefs, grow subscriber lists, and innovate for our more than 2.5 million subscribers.

SmartBriefs are offered on an opt-in basis to members and nonmembers of our partner organizations. We launch to the partner’s list, and see viral growth during and after the launch as members share the brief with their friends in the industry. Throughout the life of a SmartBrief, we grow our subscriber lists by conducting trials or re-launches to our partners’ lists (no more than twice per year so we don’t fatigue the list). The list might include new members/prospects, and others who didn’t opt in during earlier offerings.

We recently ran a trial for one of our briefs. After day one of the trial, the SmartBrief editor received this e-mail from a brand-new reader:

“To Whom It May Concern: I am a small, very small business owner who does residential remodeling and in the quest to streamline my expense due to the lagging economy I contemplated doing away with my [association] membership. In all honesty this new e-newsletter has made that decision very unlikely. I liked the condensed format and the fact that if I wanted to read further into the original article that I could do that right from the source. The smartbrief is a great idea that seems to have been greatly executed and is greatly appreciated…nice job on this one!”

We love happy endings! Everyone wins with a trial send. SmartBrief gets in front of new eyeballs and expands our subscriber lists to attract more and bigger advertisers. And our partners provide their members with an incredible benefit.
